What DIGITAL CAMERAS can be had that I can use to to MODELING STYLE shots and FISHEYE images with?

Assuming I can learn the skill of composing nice shots whch I feel strongly that I can with practice and a bit of education…

I want a digital camera that I can do “fisheye” style images when I want, excellent portriat modes to do chest up and facial images, something that has the ability to go manual and change lenses and possibly add filters, perhaps something with a image stabilizer and something of a high enough MP rating that can offer me images that are good enough to use in fashion modeling. Also something with a good flash when needed to acheive my modeling style image goals. That would be a rough estimation of what I am after in a digital camera.

I realise I could possibly use a Photoshop type program to achieve some of these goals, but I think I would want something that I can look into the vewfinder or monitor and almost see what I want right then and there as I am posing my models.

I have a budget of around 1000 US Dollars, more or less.

Thank you.

Well, a budget of $1000 isn’t going to get you far with a professional camera. Unless you are fortunate enough to find one used.

You might want to start with the Canon Rebel. The consumer version was about $800, could have gone down by now. I don’t know if it comes with lenses or if it is just the body. Perhaps a small lense.

I shoot with the Canon 10D and D60 which are older camera, (D60 is five years old, 10D a couple of years newer.)

I already had 6 or 7 canon lenses when I converted to digital so that was not an issure for me.

I know you can get a 5D body only for around $500 if you really shop but that leaves you with buying lenses and that is where it’s really going to hit you. Again, perhaps you can find used. Try Ebay. I’ve bought several lenses that and gotten pretty good value.

To do all you are asking, you’ll need to get a DSLR with interchangable lenses.

I recommend a Niko nD40x or a Canon Digital Rebel XTi.

Look around for lenses in portrait length(85mm – 150mm) for portrait work and a length of 10-15mm for fisheye stuff.

Modeling style shots, or “glamour” shots look best if you have a set of strobes. Fisheye will require the use of a fisheye lens for the best effect. So you’re going to need to get into an SLR to begin with, get some strobes (preferrably with softboxes) then save up for a fisheye lens (they can be pricey).
