What’s the best way to take Acting Lessons? Private lessons or a class of about 10?

I feel like I’m more suited to private lessons but I’m also at a beginner level with acting and I feel like working with others could help a lot. It would be a lesson within itself. But I would rather take private lessons….. What’s your opinion?….. Thanks in advance.

  • Ruwani:

personally i think its best you go for it privately

  • Mess Of A Dreamer:

Oh, I would absolutely go for the class setting; what are you going to work on privately, other than monologues? Monologues are important for auditions, certainly, but the actual ACTING part of acting is all about the other person, and it’s hard to learn to work with another person without…well, another person. Besides, it’s fun to get to know people in your acting class, and you’ll find you learn nearly as much by watching other people as you do by putting work up yourself.

Both – if this is your true interest, take private and then group. Keep learning your trade. If it is your true calling and this is the first step it won’t matter because you will be led from one learning opportunity to another. Good luck!

This hypothetical opinionating is all very intellectual: have you considered trialling both ways, to find out?
