“its impossible for words to describe what is neccesary to those who do not know what horror means…” awesome

  • Wazzuppi:

arabs have a dendency to pay more attention to a few innocent civilians killed, and cry outrage than wanting help from america this fuels the rage, either thats the fault of media i dont know but best thing for america to do is leave the middle east the fuck alone and let history work its self out.

  • alexlvsport:

weren’t any troubles really. What about the Taliban in the Afghanistan and Sadam in Iraq. I’m pretty sure those are troubles.

  • Lonesentrymusic:

yeah, the arian brotherhood and MS14 use the same strategy,
also the warlords in africa who get whole populations raped and murdered.
of course they are the lowest of criminals, but who cares right ?

ever noticed how all these kinds of people alway’s end in a most violent painfull premature death ?
and so they should…. like all terrorists…

  • Lonesentrymusic:

i guess you fail to get the whole point of the movie…

  • Lonesentrymusic:

there weren’t any troubles in iraQ or afganistan untill the americans came….

  • Lonesentrymusic:

this movie is not about present day warfare,
    politics or winning a war.
(if there ever is such a thing as winning a war)

  • Lonesentrymusic:

your troops followed that idiot bush and blair to murder people on the account of lies that there were weapons of mass destruction..

i’dd say i respect col. kurtz ideals more….
at least he believes in something more then political filthy lies…

no, the UK troops are indignit and already defeated themselfs in that manor.
don’t get funny idea’s, soldiers kill for money..
    not out of fancy morals.

Next to ‘The Trio’ from ‘The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly’, in my opinion the greatest scene in film history.

  • JCMac777:

Perhaps. In a less complicated world, yes, it would make sense to take the military approach that Kurtz suggests. Like swatting flies. But you see, you should remember, here in the real world, we’re not fighting a war with flies. We’re fighting a war with human beings. You don’t want the deaths of innocents on your conscience, even if the killing of innocents makes fighting the war easier. Less to worry about. But only a sociopath is indifferent to the lives of civilians.

  • KeyserSoseRulz:

You missed the fundamental aspect of this scene. What defeated Kurtz was his lack of morals and subsequent mental degeneration. No we won’t win a war by unleashing horror on innocent people. By doing so we’ll turn into different types of Kurtz and lose. Strenght is winning a war and perserving your moral values, protecting innocents and dealing with prisioners with dignity. Only superior men and leaders have the strenght to fight a moral in an immoral world.

  • diztanguy:

true…true…but…he will commit…horrors…and our troops wouldn t follow a wacky commander like Kurtz for fears of court martial.like Kurts said…because it s judgement that defeats us.only communist troops would commit war crimes on regular basis.

  • AKiren47:

Nope. I’m not kidding. Look at those decapitation videos the “terrorists” post and you’ll get an idea of what I mean. Do whatever it takes to make people fear you so much that they shit their pants at the thought of going against you. History is full of these lessons.

  • MissKafkah100:

    @AKiren47

    you´re kiddin, right?
    I don´t get it…

  • iacthulu:

you realize that Kurtz was completely insane right?

  • docinohio:

“If I had 10 divisions of those men then our troubles here would be over very quickly”….if only our military leaders shared Kurtz’ profound and stunningly accurate insight into the necessity of warfare but instead we’re too damned concerned about collateral damage and possibly damaging Iraqi and Afghani property. We need more generals and colonels like Kurtz and our troubles in Iraq and Afghanistan would be over very quickly and Obama wouldn’t need his silly timetable of when to pull out.

  • AKiren47:

So much truth is spoken here. A true warrior understands the neccessity of brutality and utilizing pure, agonizing horror as a means of conquering your enemy. I am in awe at the magnificence of this monologue. Brilliant…

  • Kammanderkool:

    its judgment thats defeats us

  • HaT223:

Brando as Kurtz was the coolest character in any movie.

  • Chance99able:

Its Called “Soul Communication”….the words are evoked from the Soul, not the brain, and reflect the “feeling” that he has in his SOUL(!!) The words are reflected from his soul….

  • UnheardPrayers:

Sends chills up my spine listening to this. It’s amazing.

  • jernmyre:

Yes fantastic monologue and true words too

  • rudibon:

it is the greatest monologue ever. This film is 10/10 in every aspect
