    No. Infact, plays in High-school, and theater. Are much, MUCH different from acting on television ad in movies. You should get an agent, and have him or her teach you the proper way of acting, unless you want to do theater.

    That’s more of a British than American tradition – as is drama school, repertory theatre, treading the boards, etc.

    Age is not a barrier to acting, believe it or not. A 17 y.o. isn’t convincing enough as a ‘grandparent’ type, so they use real ones, and vice versa.

    Equally, a number of ‘famous’ actors were ‘discovered’ in plays, and in rare cases, on the street. Some also when they walked in the door of a casting agent for a try-out, and immediately the agent knew there was ’something about that person’.

    Others, like Jodie Foster, already had a long career, yet still graduated high school; and a few put their acting work on hold to finish university. It depends on your goals and what you want in life.
