Well, here’s a tip– DO NOT WORK WITH JOHN ROBERT POWERS. It’s national “agency” that’s not very well-respected, as they usually make their clients take their classes. NEVER pay an agency a dime. They only make money off commission from your earnings (15-20%)
Look at the SAG website, which should list some legitimate agencies.

  • all you need is love:

NO John Robert Powers, Barbizon, ACT, anything that says they will INSTANTLY make you a star or has radio ads. You can find reputable agencies through the SAG website. You should never pay an agency, just like the previous person said. The agencies depend on where you live and how much experience you have.

    good luck!

Here’s how you get into acting:
The first thing you need is experience. You should start small and work on building a resume to submit to potential agencies (when the time comes) Audition for school plays and join the drama club. You should also try out for local community theatre shows. Take as many acting classes as possible. Read some books on acting (those by Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, Kristen Linklater and Jack Poggi are great). Be sure to get the support of your parents, they can help you a lot.

If you feel you are ready, look up auditions on http://www.actorsaccess.com/index.cfm?fl…
    http://www.backstage.com/bso/index.jsp
    http://actinginfo.blogspot.com/
All three websites are reputable, legitimate and free. You generally need a head shot and resume (this website has great information on creating a resume http://www.bestsampleresume.com/acting-r… When you have enough experience you should begin to look for an agent. Look up agents on the SAG website.

first you need to get some acting training and experience.finding agents are last. one would need to know where you are. you can’t per sue acting and find agents just anywhere. you need to be
where the auditions are held to get an agent. you can look on SAG’S web site for approved agents.
anyone near you will be ok. if none are within at least 2 hrs of where you are, your not close enough.

are all legit, but none are going to be interested unless you have a strong resume and training with the best acting schools/coaches near you. Until you have enough experience and training, all you are going to find are crap agencies as legitimate agencies don’t represent beginners.
