Beware of a New Acting and Modeling Scam – be Careful
Just the other day I received an email from someone who wants to hire me for a modeling project. Since I’ve been making my living as an actor and commercial model since 1986, it is not unusual for someone who has visited my website, www. howtomodel. com and wish to book a job for me. Having my photos, as drums, and voice over jobs there, my site has been a great tool to get work as an actor and commercial model. The person who contacted me said he was based in England. In his e-mail, he said he just visited my site, I loved my work and thought it was perfect for an advertising campaign that was working. He mentioned that $ 1000 be paid in advance and my image is used in the product catalog, as well as billboards and posters throughout Europe. I mentioned that to my image used in a high exposure format (billboards, posters, etc. ..), I would have to consider the additional fees for the types of uses. The reason for an additional charge for high exposure format is to help offset the possible loss model working. If a model is a sign of a local bank, no local bank will hire another model because the model is so closely related to a competitor. Sometimes the models can get overexposed in a market to be in an exhibition format. That is why the model should always ask if there are additional charges for being in an exhibition format. Since taking the photo session will take place in England, I also asked about travel rates in the UK. He told me that the photographer and makeup artist come to me for the shooting. They also told me that he would send a check for the modeling fee of $ 1,000 and the money to the photographer and makeup artist. I asked to pay them directly with the extra money will be on the check. I’ve heard of scams where people send a lot of money for services and asked to return the overpayment. Â The honest person sends the overpayment back to the “company” and after a few days later discovered that the original check, he charged has rebounded. The bank asked to repay the full amount, plus a charge for the bounced check. I can not say for sure, but I thought that’s what these people were doing. I told the person who will gladly accept the $ 1,000 check, but would not pay the photographer and makeup artist. Never heard of him. Be careful.
