Rex Raven Ultra Commando – 1481216
03-25-15 – Cleveland, OH>Pittsburgh, PA – A short, three page scene, out of context. The purpose of the scene is to experiment with a visual and narrative style that is to be later applied to a fourth film year project. The scene harkens back to gritty, neon-lit, 80’s action movies that dwell on ridiculous action, bustle through fast-paced cutting, and supply copious amounts of eye candy for the audience to lap up.

When Rex Raven is contacted by his commanding officer, Colonel Dragonfly, regarding a young girl’s death, Raven must prepare himself for the explosive battle against his arch nemesis that will most assuredly ensue. The entirety of the scene focuses on the classic “Gearing-Up” montage so prevalent in the Hollywood Studio system’s money-making blockbusters of the 1980’s. — Project Type: Feature Film

Auditions For Hamlet – 1480818
03-23-15 – Cleveland, OH>Pittsburgh, PA – Prince Hamlet of Denmark is not a happy camper. He has just been hurried back home from University to learn that his father the King (Hamlet Sr.) is dead, and that his mother has already jumped into “incestuous sheets” (I.i) by marrying his father’s brother, Claudius, thus making him the new King of Denmark. In short order, the ghost of Hamlet’s father appears to tell him that Claudius is responsible for his death and to urge him to take revenge.

Hamlet is plunged into philosophical paralysis, at first utterly resolved to carry out his dead father’s wishes, and then vacillating continuously between action and inaction. Finally, he has the idea to have a group of traveling players play the scene of his father’s murder before his uncle in theatrical form, thus forcing him to admit his guilt. He does so, and once it becomes certain that Claudius committed the atrocity, Hamlet angrily confronts his mother for mindlessly shacking up with his father’s murderer. In a rage, he accidentally murders Polonius, his girlfriend Ophelia’s father, causing her to go mad and drown herself. The bloodbath continues: Laertes, Ophelia’s brother, comes to take revenge on Hamlet, and both of them are fatally injured in a duel, Hamlet’s mother, Gertrude, drinks poison that Claudius intended for Hamlet, and Hamlet manages to get one last (fatal) shot in at Claudius shortly before his own death.

In the play’s final moments, Hamlet begs his friend Horatio to “draw thy breath in pain / To tell my story” (V.ii). Shakespeare’s longest and most frequently performed play, Hamlet is one of the most influential works in the English literary canon.

Actors auditioning have the choice to perform a classic monologue no longer than two minutes in length or a cold read with sides provided.

Auditions for Footloose The Musical – 1480534
03-19-15 – Cleveland, OH>Pittsburgh, PA – One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn’t prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town’s youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.
