The new play from the writer of WOLVES and OCTOPUS.
In the wake of a violent tragedy at a local community college, a single mother struggles to reconnect with her withdrawn son across the breakfast table as mysterious forces threaten to invade the kitchen. Continually interrupted by a talkative three-headed dog, a radio gone haywire, and an animated refrigerator, time is running short for mother and son to deal with the morning’s events. “And so I leave you with a warning: This is not Yockey writing in the sexually sinister, frequently delicious style of “Wolves” and “Octopus.” It is a much more potent cup o’ joe. Not everyone will want to see this play. Those who do may never be the same again.” – Atlanta Journal Constitution — Project Type: Live Event

The job he’s been waiting for—marketing executive—would take him away from his beloved, but annoying, grandparents. He tells them. The news doesn’t sit so well. Thus begins a series of schemes to keep Nick around. How could he betray his family’s love to move to Seattle, for a job, wonder his grandparents? Well, Frank, Aida, Nunzio and Emma do their level best, and that includes bringing to dinner the lovely—and single—Caitlin O’Hare as bait…we won’t give the ending away here.

12-03-14 – Las Vegas, NV>Phoenix, AZ –
Callbacks: Sunday, March 1st at 1pm
Performing: April 23rd – May 10th, 2015

Synopsis:
Three generations deal with each other in post-depression, World War II New York. Quirky Bella lives with her mother, the somewhat tyrannical Grandma Kurnitz. Her well-meaning but unsuccessful son Eddie deposits his two teenage sons with grandma and aunt, while he takes to the road. Trapped in Yonkers, which they have only visited and dislike, except for Grandma’s Ice Cream Parlor below and Bella’s problem with serving too much ice cream, the play explores how the precocious but inexperienced boys contend with Grandma, Bella (and her secret romance) and her brother, Louie, who may be a hoodlum. Affection, frustration, competition and love all mix in this story of a not-so-much-simpler time.

What To Prepare:

Headshots/Resume Required.

By Appointment: Email Only.

Actors will be asked to do a cold read from the script.

If an actor is prepared with a comedic monologue, they are encouraged to share it at the audition, but with short notice such as this, we are not requiring a monologue.

We will also do some improvisation related to the “men pretending to be women to get the inheritance” plot device.

Ultimately, actors performing as Leo and Jack will have to be able to do an RP British accent (Standard English) – so it would be nice to hear a facility for accents from those auditioning for those roles.
