Also in the woods, we meet Little Red, who is trying to visit her grandmother, the Wolf who loves tasty little girls, the Witch’s daughter Rapunzel, and the Princes chasing after their loves. By the end of Act I, everyone has gotten their wish and will seemingly live happily ever after. The Musical Comedy Murders Of 1940 – 1476103
02-17-15 – Albany, NY>Buffalo, NY – The creative team responsible for a recent Broadway flop (in which three chorus girls were murdered by the mysterious “Stage Door Slasher”) assemble for a backer’s audition of their new show at the Westchester estate of a wealthy “angel.” The house is replete with sliding panels, secret passageways and a German maid who is apparently four different people—all of which figure diabolically in the comic mayhem which follows when the infamous “Slasher” makes his reappearance and strikes again—and again. As the composer, lyricist, actors and director prepare their performance, and a blizzard cuts off any possible retreat, bodies start to drop in plain sight, knives spring out of nowhere, masked figures drag their victims behind swiveling bookcases, and accusing fingers point in all directions. However, and with no thanks to the bumbling police inspector who snowshoes in to investigate, the mystery is solved in the nick of time and the “Slasher” unmasked—but not before the audience has been treated to a sidesplitting good time and a generous serving of the author’s biting, satiric and refreshingly irreverent wit.

Those planning on auditioning are asked to prepare a one to two minute comic monologue. Those auditioning for singing roles please also prepare 16 measures of a Broadway style uptempo song. You will sing without accompaniment.

Performances are April 17-19, 2015 — Project Type: Live Event

Theatre Auditions for Three Plays – 1475988
02-17-15 – Buffalo, NY>Pittsburgh, PA – The season will consist of three musical productions: “The Last Five Years” in June, “Avenue Q” in July and “Into the Woods” in August.

The Last Five Years explores a five-year relationship between Jamie, a rising novelist, and Cathy, a struggling actress. The show uses a form of storytelling in which Cathy’s story is told in reverse chronological order (beginning the show at the end of their relationship), with Jamie’s told in chronological order (starting just after the couple have first met).

Avenue Q tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. There, he meets Kate, Rod, Trekkie, Lucy and other colorful types who help Princeton finally discover his purpose in life. The musical is done mostly with puppets and has many adult themes.

Into the Woods intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales as each explores the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. The main characters are taken from “Little Red Riding Hood,” “Jack and the Beanstalk,” “Rapunzel” and “Cinderella,” as well as several others.

For those planning to audition, the producers ask to have a short musical selection (about 16 measures) from a song of the performer’s choice and from one of the shows he or she plans to audition for. An accompanist will be provided. — Project Type: Live Event

Next To Normal Casting For Lead Roles – 1474376
02-04-15 – Albany, NY>Buffalo, NY – Next to Normal is a contemporary family drama, about a woman’s struggle with mental illness, and the effects of her illness on her family. At the opening of the show, Diana seems to have an ideal life she is educated, well-off, and happily married with two teenage children. But it soon becomes clear that all is not as it seems. Diana has bipolar disorder, plagued with anxieties, mood swings and delusions that trace back to a family tragedy 16 years earlier and are growing worse with time. During the course of the play, Diana goes through a series of doctors and treatments, in response to and sometimes triggering the ups and downs of her illness. Under the care of her primary doctor, Dr. Madden, Diana takes medication, talks through her issues and problems, and undergoes the
more controversial option of electroconvulsive therapy. Meanwhile, her husband Dan confronts his own confusion and depression; daughter Natalie deals with isolation and a budding romance with a fellow music student, Henry; and son Gabe serves as Diana’s confidante and link to a happier past. Though the family strives to establish some sort of normality, and each character seeks his or her own peace and happiness, the ties that bind slowly and inexorably unravel around them.

Next to Normal is considered a rock musical, and much of the story is told through song. The melodies are often interwoven, and the action moves back and forth among simultaneous scenes, as well as between literal and psychological realities. Though serious in focus, the play is full of surprises and humor as well.

Those auditioning are asked to choose one of the songs listed below which best demonstrates your vocal ability. A specific excerpt will be provided at the audition. Each auditionee will sing only once. You will be considered for every role in which you have indicated an interest regardless of your song choice. Auditions For Aesops Foibles – 1473253
01-28-15 – Albany, NY>Buffalo, NY – Our play begins as young Aesop explains to the audience about his problem of constantly hearing annoying voices in his head, which come to life as hysterical characters onstage that only Aesop (and your audience!) can see and hear. With the resentful Fox, the egomaniac Hare, the sluggish Tortoise, the zen-like Grasshopper and the Aunt (yes, his mother’s sister!) and many more, Aesop can hardly think straight, so his parents take him to the doctor. Freaking out with frustration, Aesop wields a cane at the poor old doc, who’s bent on sending the young slave away to the loony bin. Goddess Hera and her hen-pecked husband Zeus intervene by sending the muse Daphinity down to help Aesop take control of the characters in his head. She convinces him that the only way to freedom is to let the characters out and share them with the world. Prompted by his master, Aesop’s stories come alive onstage, but the master remains unimpressed until Aesop can tell him what the tales mean. Jam-packed with clever dialogue, mad-cap action and modern, uproarious twists, Aesop’s Foibles retells the fables like you’ve never quite heard them before and offers a heart-warming surprise ending to wrap up the play the way Aesop would’ve like it… with a meaningful moral!

All those auditioning must bring a list of potential conflicts for the course of the rehearsal process (March 15 until the performances). — Project Type: Live Event

After the loss of a dear friend, the women realize time is precious and if they’re going to change their lives and achieve their dreams they have to get on it now! But Sugar Lee, their high-spirited, determined leader, has her hands full keeping the women motivated. Carlene’s given up on romance, having buried three husbands. Nita’s a nervous wreck from running interference between her problematic son and his probation officer. Mavis’ marriage is so stagnant she’s wondering how she can fake her own death to get out of it. And sweet, simple Crystal entertains them all, singing Christmas carols with her own, hilarious lyrics. The comic tension mounts when a sexy, ex-boyfriend shows up unexpectedly, a marriage proposal comes from an unlikely suitor and Sugar Lee’s arch rival vows she’ll stop at nothing to steal the spa away from her. Casting Call For Jesus Christ Superstar – 1471879
01-20-15 – Albany, NY>Buffalo, NY – Jesus Christ Superstar presents the story of Jesus and his disciples, or followers, from the time they enter into Jerusalem until Jesus’ betrayal by Judas Iscariot and eventual crucifixion at the hands of the Romans.

The opera opens on the eve of the journey to Jerusalem. Rome has taken over the city, making it dangerous for Jewish leaders to claim too much power. Most of the disciples, like Simon Zealotes, are devoted to Jesus and excited about the next day’s events, but one, Judas, worries that Jesus has taken his religious crusade too far. He fears that the Roman army will destroy them all. He is also concerned that Jesus, supposedly a man of religion, is spending too much time with Mary Magdalene, a former prostitute but now one of Jesus’ closest allies. Jesus tells Judas that unless he himself is without sin, he must not criticize others. Mary Magdalene, in turn, has her own troubles; she is falling in love with Jesus but isn’t sure how to act.

Please be prepared to sing 32 bars in pop/rock style. If you are interested in dancing please bring dance shoes and be ready to learn a short combination.

The roles of Jesus, Judas, and Pilate have been cast and some of the other roles may be double cast. — Project Type: Live Event
