Auditions – The Producers – 1443996
08-22-14 – Albany, NY>Buffalo, NY – AUDITIONS – The Producers

Within that 45-minute period, a maximum of 15 students will audition for evaluation in three specific categories: music/singing, dance, and acting. The first portion will be singing.
The first portion will be singing. Our music director, Judy Harriman-Carlson will test ranges and give individual students a chance to sing portions of songs from the show that she will make available to anyone interested by Sept. 8. Students may stop down to the choral music room to sign out copies of audition materials.
The second portion will be dance. Our choreographers, Isaac and Val Campbell, will teach a brief combination that they will use for the show, give you some time to absorb it and practice the steps, then step back and evaluate students based on technique, precision, style and ability to learn steps quickly. No previous dance experience is necessary and some people will inevitably dance more than others. We only ask that everyone focus and try hard.
The third and final leg of the audition will be the acting portion, I in which students will read portions of scripts for various roles. Given the time constraints of the audition, all students will not read for all parts. Students will be evaluated based upon their abilities to create a persona on the spot and deliver lines in a clear, audible, and emotive manner that is suitable for the reading.

The most important factor to creating a high quality show is time. It takes a great deal of time and effort from actors, crew, technicians, and staff, but the rewards for a job well done more than make up for all of those hours. Join us and see for yourself!

A Murder Is Announced. – 1441174
08-11-14 – Albany, NY>Buffalo, NY – A murder is announced in the newspaper Gazette in the dizzy town of Chipping Cleghorn. Someone must be putting an invitation for a game in the paper. Naturally, a murderer would not place an ad in the paper announcing their murder, right? However dangerous as it might be, it sparks the interest of the people in town. With a specific date and time announced in the paper, the neighbors arrive at the home of Miss Blacklock (“Little Paddocks”). At 6:30, the lights cut out. After gunshots ring out, the people at Little Paddocks quickly realize that announcement was NOT a game. When the lights come on, Miss Blacklock has an ear grazed by a bullet, and an unknown man lays breathless on the floor with a gun next to him.
A full on investigation takes place. The detectives must consider everybody a possible suspect. Who is the man dead on the floor? Did anyone know him? Was he trying to shoot at anyone in particular? Did he die from a suicide or an accident? Did anyone have anything worth killing for? Is everybody what they seem?

Prepare a 2-3 minute monologue. Please bring a head-shot and resume, if available. — Project Type: Live Event

BLT Jesus Christ Superstar Audition – 1440900
08-09-14 – Buffalo, NY>Pittsburgh, PA –
Synopsis:
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR takes place during the last seven days in the life of Jesus Christ in Roman occupied Jerusalem and environs. It seems especially fitting that the first rock opera, created as a concept album at the end of the turbulent ’60s, should have at its center a social and political rebel. Jesus’ meteor-like rise in renown provides, as the title suggests, a parallel to contemporary celebrity worship. As his radical teachings are evermore embraced, Judas increasingly questions the enlightened motives of this new prophet, resulting in betrayal. Christ’s final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge and explosive theatricality. Propelled by a stirring score, by turns driving and majestic, satirical and tender, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart.

Preparation:
All you need to audition is a prepared piece of your own choosing, or from the show, that is approximately 1.5 minutes long and your sheet music (Jesus Christ Superstar music will be provided, as will an accompanist). Individuals who are auditioning should also wear comfortable clothing as there will be a movement audition as well.

Note:
