This play is told from the point of view of two of his children reflecting on the last few months before his death. He was preparing the family for his imminent departure, but most of his children, like most of the young children in the audience, were unaware of the fact. It is an extremely funny, heart-warming, and family-friendly tale, and the tragic catharsis of the father’s death is beautiful to the adults in the audience, who can understand the euphemisms.

Auditions – A Few Good Men – 1457704
10-28-14 – Atlanta, GA>Birmingham, AL – Settings Of Play – Various locations in Washington, D.C. and on the United States Naval Base in Guantanomo Bay, Cuba. Summer, 1986. (based on actual events).

In this military courtroom drama by Aaron Sorkin (writer/creator of the TV Show The West Wing), Navy lawyer Lt. Daniel Kaffee is assigned to defend two Marines, Pfc. Louden Downey and Lance Cpl. Harold Dawson. The two marines are accused of the murder of fellow leatherneck Pfc. William T. Santiago at the base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Kaffee generally plea bargains for his clients rather than bring them to trial, which is probably why he was assigned this potentially embarrassing case for the US Military. When Lt. Commander JoAnne Galloway is assigned to assist Kaffee, she is convinced that the there is more to the matters at hand than they have been led to believe and convinces her colleagues that the case should go to court. Under questioning, Downey and Dawson reveal that Santiago died in the midst of a hazing ritual known as “Code Red” after he threatened to inform higher authorities that Dawson illegally opened fire on a Cuban watchtower. They also state that the “Code Red” was performed under the orders of Lt. Jonathan Kendrick. Kendrick’s superior, tough-as-nails Col. Nathan Jessup denies any knowledge of the order to torture Santiago, but when Lt. Col. Matthew Markinson confides in Kaffee that Jessup demanded the “Code Red” for violating his order of silence, Kaffee and Galloway have to find a way to prove this in court. The show’s climax culminates in the final courtroom scene and the famous speech given by Col. Nathan Jessup that begins with the phrase, “YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!” This intense show is presented in 2 acts.

Come prepared with a 1 minute or less dramatic monologue (preferably memorized) and be prepared to stay for a cold read. (reading excerpts from the script with other actors). All roles available. Auditions are OPEN. — Project Type: Live Event
