Its A Wonderful Life Ny Audition – 1450938
09-25-14 – Albany, NY>Hartford, CT – Auditions for the Christmas classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life”

In Bedford Falls, New York, on Christmas Eve, George Bailey is deeply troubled and suicidal. Prayers for his well-being from friends and family reach Heaven. Clarence Odbody, Angel 2nd Class, is assigned to visit Earth to save George, thereby earning his wings. God the Father and St. Joseph review George’s life with Clarence.

As a 12-year-old boy in 1919, George saved the life of his younger brother Harry, who had fallen through the ice on a frozen pond, and because of his heroic action, George lost the hearing in his left ear. Later, while working in the local pharmacy, George noticed that the druggist, Mr. Gower, despondent over receiving a telegram that his son had died in the war, had mistakenly filled a child’s prescription with poison; George stopped Gower and saved him from killing the child and irrevocably ruining his own life.

George grows up and dreams of travelling the world. In 1928, he waits for Harry to graduate from high school and replace him at the Bailey Building and Loan Association, vital to the townspeople. On Harry’s graduation night, George, now 21 and preparing to travel before attending college, discusses his future with Mary Hatch, who has long had a crush on him. Later that evening, George’s absent-minded Uncle Billy interrupts them to tell George that his father has had a stroke, which proves fatal. — Project Type: Live Event

The Producers New York Audition – 1448271
09-11-14 – Albany, NY>Buffalo, NY – AUDITIONS – The Producers

Within that 45-minute period, a maximum of 15 students will audition for evaluation in three specific categories: music/singing, dance, and acting. The first portion will be singing. Our music director, Judy Harriman-Carlson will test ranges and give individual students a chance to sing portions of songs from the show that she will make available to anyone interested by Sept. 8. Students may stop down to the choral music room to sign out copies of audition materials. The second portion will be dance. Our choreographers, Isaac and Val Campbell, will teach a brief combination that they will use for the show, give you some time to absorb it and practice the steps, then step back and evaluate students based on technique, precision, style and ability to learn steps quickly. No previous dance experience is necessary and some people will inevitably dance more than others. We only ask that everyone focus and try hard. The third and final leg of the audition will be the acting portion, I in which students will read portions of scripts for various roles. Given the time constraints of the audition, all students will not read for all parts. Students will be evaluated based upon their abilities to create a persona on the spot and deliver lines in a clear, audible, and emotive manner that is suitable for the reading.

It is always our goal to cast the best possible people for every role. Experience, age, grade level, and any factors other than singing, dancing, and acting for this show during this audition process are irrelevant. So, freshmen, try out. People who don’t know our team, try out. Students who have thought that being in a musical might be fun, try out!

All we ask of students who earn a role in the show is that they make this one of their top priorities, right behind family obligations and school work. We need students at every rehearsal — especially given an eight week time frame from audition to performance. We will work with students who have sports or other commitments and try to create a schedule that accommodates everyone’s busy lives, but there will be times when choices have to be made. — Project Type: Live Event
