Auditions For Evil Dead The Musical – 1419800
04-16-14 – Albany, NY>Hartford, CT – Auditions for Evil Dead: The Musical

Directed by Erin Giacomino

Sign in begins 30 minutes prior to auditions. All roles are available to those seventeen years of age and older.

Those auditioning should prepare to sing 16 bars of music and bring the sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. No a cappella auditions.

Performance Dates:
October 31, November 1, 7 & 8 at 7 PM
November 2 & 9 at 2 PM

Synopsis:
Based on Sam Raimi’s 80s cult classic films, EVIL DEAD tells the tale of 5 college students who travel to a cabin in the woods and accidentally unleash an evil force. And although it may sound like a horror story, it’s not! The songs are hilariously campy and the show is bursting with more farce than a Monty Python skit. EVIL DEAD: THE MUSICAL unearths the old familiar story: boy and friends take a weekend getaway at abandoned cabin, boy expects to get lucky, boy unleashes ancient evil spirit, friends turn into Candarian Demons, boy fights until dawn to survive. As musical mayhem descends upon this sleepover in the woods, “camp” takes on a whole new meaning with uproarious numbers like “All the Men in my Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons,” “Look Who’s Evil Now”, and “Do the Necronomicon”. — Project Type: Live Event

Auditions – Avenue Q – 1418488
04-04-14 – Albany, NY>Hartford, CT – Synopsis:
Avenue Q is an “autobiographical and biographical” coming-of-age parable, addressing and satirizing the issues and anxieties associated with entering adulthood. Its characters lament that as children, they were assured by their parents, and by children’s television programs such as PBS’s Sesame Street, that they were “special” and “could do anything”; but as adults, they have discovered to their surprise and dismay that in the real world their options are limited, and they are no more “special” than anyone else.[1] The musical is notable for the use of puppets, animated by unconcealed puppeteers, alongside human actors.

Prepare 16-32 bars of an up-tempo and/or comedic Broadway song. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key.

Be prepared for cold readings from the script and to possibly sing and/or read with the voice of an Avenue Q character (or characters). Please note that the production staff is open to new and interesting interpretations of the characters in the show.

Bring your calendars to give conflicts. We will have a read through shortly after auditions. Rehearsals will begin in early May (3-4 evenings per week, primarily weekdays).

Due to adult language and situations, all actors must be at least 18 years old at the time of auditions.

All Roles are available. Ages noted are approximate guidelines.

Depending on audition turnout, roles may or may not double

There is no fee to participate in this production, however, we will ask for the assistance of the cast to sell program advertising to help offset costs. — Project Type: Live Event

“THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER”
Synopsis:
Tom Sawyer lived with his Aunt Polly and his half-brother, Sid. Tom dirties his clothes in a fight and is made to whitewash the fence the next day, as a punishment. He cleverly persuades his friends to trade him small treasures for the privilege of doing his work. He trades the treasures for Sunday School tickets which one normally receives for memorizing scriptures, redeeming them for a bible, much to the surprise and bewilderment of the superintendent who thought “it was simply preposterous that this boy had warehoused two thousand sheaves of Scriptural wisdom on his premises—a dozen would strain his capacity, without a doubt.”

“THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK”
Synopsis:
During the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands Anne Frank began to keep a diary on June 14, 1942, two days after her 13th birthday, and twenty two days before going into hiding with her mother, father, sister, and three other people. The group went into hiding in the sealed-off upper rooms of the annex of her father’s office building in Amsterdam.

*No preparation required.

Tuesday, April 08, 2014

Cullinan has set his play in the confines of this room and Mary Todd Lincoln recalls the incidents of her married life, far beyond the four walls that surround her.

“MOON OVER BUFFALO”
Synopsis:
In the madcap comedy tradition of “Lend me a Tenor,” also by Ludwig, the hilarious “Moon Over Buffalo” centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950’s. At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York with 5 actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up , they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom.

04-03-14 – Albany, NY>Hartford, CT – Classic Theater Guild Auditions
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

*Please prepare a 1- to 2-minute comic Shakespearean monologue & be prepared to read from the script.

Synopsis:
The play features three interconnecting plots, connected by a celebration of the wedding of Theseus of Athens and the Amazon queen, Hippolyta, which is set simultaneously in the woodland and in the realm of Fairyland, under the light of the moon.
In the opening scene, Hermia refuses to follow her father Egeus’ instructions to marry Demetrius, whom he has chosen for her, because she wishes to marry another man named Lysander. In response, Egeus invokes before Theseus an ancient Athenian law whereby a daughter must marry the suitor chosen by her father, or else face death. Theseus offers her another choice: lifelong chastity while worshipping the goddess Diana as a nun.
At that same time, Peter Quince and his fellow players gather to produce a stage play, “the most lamentable comedy and most cruel death of Pyramus and Thisbe”, for the Duke and the Duchess. Quince reads the names of characters and bestows them to the players. Nick Bottom, who is playing the main role of Pyramus, is over-enthusiastic and wants to dominate others by suggesting himself for the characters of Thisbe, the Lion, and Pyramus at the same time. He would also rather be a tyrant and recites some lines of Ercles. Quince ends the meeting with “at the Duke’s oak we meet”. — Project Type: Live Event
